After years of trying and testing, I have finally found my four favourite cream eyeshadow formulas (try saying that five times fast!) and today I am going to share my thoughts of them with you all. I'm 21 now, but Rubenesque Paintpot by MAC was one of the first higher end makeup items I ever bought at the tender age of 15, and I haven't looked back since. Not only are the formulas of these all unique, yet equally lovely, but some of my favourite colours in them are a neutral-lovers dream. So, without further ado, let's take a look at what kind of cream shadows float my boat...

MAC Paintpots (£15):
A classic; the MAC Paintpots have been a cult favourite for years, and for good reason. As you can see, the shade 'Painterly' has been well loved as I've just cracked open my second pot of the stuff. They have great lasting power, lovely pigmentation, and are just a good all-rounder. I particularly like Painterly because it blanks out any pigmentation on my eyelid and provides me with the perfect canvas.

MUFE Aqua Creams (£17.95/US$23):
There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that lasts longer on my eyes than the MUFE Aqua Creams. As their name suggests, they are waterproof - and I can certainly vouch for this - I've even been swimming with one on! I own two colours, a darker brown and this gorgeous champagne colour (#13), and I adore them both, however I get a lot more use out of the lighter shade as I can use it on its own, or as a base for other colours.

Bourjois Colour Edition 24hr Cream-to-Powder Eyeshadows (£6.99):
I know that these cream eyeshadows from Bourjois have been somewhat debated; many claiming that they aren't as good as their Maybelline counterpart. As much as I love the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, this gorgeous shade from Bourjois just wins me over every time. The texture is a bit odd - it's a tad dry - but it's a cream-to-powder so what else can you really expect? I haven't tried any of the other shades, so I can't speak for them, but Pétal de Glace is probably one of my favourite eyeshadow colours ever. Bold statement right? It must be love.

Chanel Illusion D'ombres (£25):
With the highest price point of the bunch, it can sometimes be hard to justify picking one of these up - but trust me, they are more than worth it. These come a close second with the MUFE shadows for longevity - seriously, I once went clubbing with one of these on, no primer underneath and no shadow to set it, and came back in the wee hours of the morning with the same flawless eye look. The texture of these is different - a bit like mousse - but they blend like a dream, set quickly and stay there for hours. I actually love these so much that I have 5 or 6 of these - all of which I adore - and all of which I would wholeheartedly recommend to you all. So, next time you have a few extra beauty card points, maybe head over to the Chanel counter and have a quick swatching session!

  2. The first thing I thought was how incredibly pretty that Bourjois one is! I have one in a different colour and have a problem with them being really dry as well, I would totally buy Petal de Glace but am unsure because of the formula! My favourite cream shadow is from Kiko although I do have and like MAC Painterly :)

  5. I know what you mean - they are a bit tricky. I treat it more like a powder eyeshadow and pack it on. The colour is just so gorgeous that it's worth the effort :) x

  7. I love the colour of the bourjous one. I have never really given cream eyeshadow a go, I tend to stick to powders but I think I ought to give them a go. The price of the bourjous one seems a perfect starters price X

  8. I do love a cream shadow, however they don't tend to last amazingly well on my oily lids without either a primer beneath or a powder on top. I do however really love the Estee Lauder Stay on shadow paints! That Bourjois shade looks so lovely and unique!
