What I've been loving #49

Apologies for the double dose of WIBL, but I'm trying to wrap up the series at its 50th post before things start to change around here. I'll also be posting the final installment most likely within the week, but hey - who doesn't love a good WIBL post? Plus, I've got a handful of new favourites to share in no. 50, so make sure to stick around for that! But, let's not get ahead of ourselves...

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Matte Lipstick in L'amoureuse (£25)
This is my ultimate 'sophisticated' lipstick - the luxury packaging plus the matte-but-not-too-matte formula that glides on and stays put without all of the moisture being sucked out of your lips is a complete winner. Long story short, this makes me feel fancy, and isn't that what you want from a lipstick?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion (£28)
I often forget about this little gem because, due to its lightness, it only really works nicely on me when I'm at my palest during the winter months. These blushes are super soft and incredibly easy to work with, but can use with building up a bit to really get a good colour payoff. Despite this, this shade is gorgeous and will look fabulous as we approach the summer months. 

bareMinerals Round the Clock Eyeliner in 7 pm (£15)
I spoke about another one of bareMineral's amazing liners a few posts back, and this brown shade from their Round the Clock range is just as sensational. The colour is rich, the payoff is amazing, the range is extensive, and the lasting power is phenomenal - what more could you want in an eyeliner?

Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner in Pink Princess (£4.99)
An awful name for a gorgeous shade; Pink Princess is more of a pink-nude than a colour that you would associate with its title. Often underlooked, Max Factor does some splendid products, and their lipliners are definitely amongst some of the best - and they're super cheap. I haven't tried any other shades from the line yet, but be sure that if I'm after a new lipliner, this line will be one of the first ones I check.

NARS And God Created the Woman Palette (£35):
An oldie but a goodie, this palette is perfect for everyday use. As you can see, I've made quite a dent in perhaps my favourite colour of the lot - Kalahari I, which is a cool-toned taupe brown from the Kalahari Eyeshadow Duo. The whole palette is great; the darker colours, Night Clubbing and Coconut Grove, are super pigmented and make for a great eyeliner, and the matte taupe, Bellisima II, works well on my eyebrows. The palette has been rereleased since I purchased this, but although it looks different, the shades are all the same but in a different order! Along with the palette, you also get a sample size of the Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, as well as a travel size Wide Contour Brush #43 - it's quite a deal.

Maybelline Master Drama Eyeliners in Brownie Glitz, Rose Pearl, and Pearly Taupe (£4.49):
Whilst browsing the aisles of Boots the other day - as one does - I stumbled across some amazing eyeliners from Maybelline that have, quite frankly, blown my mind. The apply really smoothly because they have such a creamy texture, but they dry within the minute and, once set, are unmovable. Seriously - their staying power is unreal. Plus, they come is some really pretty colours.

MAC Cremeblend Blush in Lilicent [LE] (£18.50):
Although I've never been a huge fan of cream blushes, for some reason Lilicent screamed to be worn the other day and I was reminded just how gorgeous it is. Although MAC cream blushes appear to have quite a thick and sticky texture, they are actually pretty easy to work with, and this particular shade really compliments my paler complexion. I'm a big fan.

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Merry Maker (£16):
I'm not sure if I've talked abut these bareMinerals glosses before (I have so many posts up in the air!) but I've recently discovered them, and they're delightful. I shamefully realised that I had a bareMinerals set hidden away at the back of my drawers from last Christmas which had been abandoned in the rush to find a place for everything, and the set contained a mini lipgloss in the colour Spark Plug - a lovely nude pink, which I immediately broke out to give it a go. They aren't particularly pigmented (they give more of a slight tint), they aren't sticky, but they last a good amount of time for a gloss, and they have an ever so slight tingling sensation paired with a subtle minty scent. I was thrilled when I received a bareMinerals set again this Christmas with two full-sized glosses in it - one being this lovely pink shade called Merry Maker. Definitely a handbag essential for me!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Taupe (£15) and the MAC 266 Brush (£16.50):
Yes yes yes, all the yes. This has been a hyped product for ages, but I was never sure about it because I thought it might be a bit heavy on my light brows. This was actually the case when applied with the mini brow brush I bought with it (no. 7 I think?) but once I tried my trusty MAC 266 brush, things were a lot smoother. Seriously, if you're in the market for an angled brush, I implore you to go straight to the MAC store. This is by far the thinnest angled brush I've come across (beats out Real Techniques, Ecotools, NARS, Sigma, etc.) and I wouldn't be without it!

bareMinerals Lasting Liner in Always Charcol (£15):
This was also featured in the bareMinerals set I received this Christmas with the lipgloss (see the full set here) and I really like it. I usually don't stray too far from my beloved MAC liners, but the longevity of this is incredible, and I love the colour. It had never occurred to me to try a charcoal coloured liner before, but I really, really like it!

WIBL #46

I've had this scent for ages; seriously, it must be at least 6 years old and I'm still a huge fan. It isn't really an everyday scent for me anymore like it was when I was in my teens, but it's sweet, fruity notes make this perfect for when you want to jazz things up a bit. It's probably considered to be more of a summer scent, but when have I ever followed the rules? They're more like guidelines in my eyes...

MAC Lipstick in RiRi Woo (LE):
A classic red for the festive season is always a must have, and MAC's RiRi Woo (which is identical to the permanent shade Ruby Woo) ticks all the boxes. It's neither too orange nor too pink, and despite its matte finish, it isn't too drying on the lips but still stays put for a good long while. 

I've never really been a tea or coffee person, except for a good ol' caramel or toffee nut latte (but that's not a great drink to get in the habit of buying every day) so I am forever looking for a suitable alternative to meet my hot beverage needs during the colder months. Enter M&S's Mint and Strawberry teabags - something that definitely sounds a bit posh and unnecessary, but are honestly really yummy. You may feel put off by the idea of fake strawberry flavouring, but the slight strawberry infusion honestly tastes like you've stepped into a strawberry field in mid-summer. Basically, they're yum, so if you're already a fan of mint tea, maybe try picking these bad boys up next time you're in M&S!

Everything I've ever tried from MUFE's Aqua ranges have been sensational, and this is certainly no exception. These are basically twist up stick versions of their amazing Aqua Creams, and are both incredibly long lasting, waterproof, and very easy to reply. I've got a really nice metallic brown shade which works both all over the lid for a sultry eye, or applied directly to the crease to add definition. A big thumbs up from me!

WIBL #45: Nice n' simple

bareMinerals Complexion Perfection (£26):
This product truly is perfection as the name suggests; the formula is light and blends effortlessly, the colour is one of the best matches I have come across (I use 01 Opal) and it doesn't cling to dry patches or break down on oilier skin. It also gives a gorgeous radiance to your skin without feeling sticky. A big winner in my book!

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that my all-time favourite eyeliner is Stubborn Brown from MAC, but when my latest pencil ran out, I decided to try another formula in a similar colour. I stumbled across the Technakohl formula which is well known for staying in place and decided to get the colour Photogravure - a deep brown colour. So far I really like it and it definitely lives up to its long-lasting reputation. It's also a twist up liner which is great because you don't need to sharpen it!

the Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (£14): 
YES YES YES YES all of the YES. This is pure goodness. I've talked about this recent purchase here, but we'll just say that it's one bangin' highlighter - even for my pale skin!
