The Inbetweener

Everyone is always searching for the perfect everyday lipstick, or that one red that defies them all, but no one seems to take a minute to celebrate the middle man - the inbetweener that swoops in to save the day when no one else is up to the job. I'm talking about that special shade, a tad darker than your average everyday lippy, but nothing so bold as to be considered a night time-only hue. We all need one of those shades that can be used to dress up a look - give you that touch of sophistication - without making you look like you're off to the club. The inbetweener - that vital lipstick shade that many of us overlook, but without it we would be left with a giant, (lipstick) bullet shaped hole in our lives - and makeup bags.
My 'inbetweener' of choice is the stunning Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in 'L'Amoureuse' - my first ever Chanel lipstick, and didn't I choose well? It's velvet finish mean it glides onto the lips like a dream, and still retains moisture whilst giving a matte, chic look. Above I've just dabbed it on (as my lips were a tad dry - sorry!) but it can be applied more generously to give a crisp, stylish, and more pigmented look. I truly didn't know what I was missing until I added this kind of look to my repertoire, but once that middle man's moved in, it's hard to get it to budge.
