Hey guys,

Today I just wanted to do a quick overview of a product that I've been loving to use recently. After talking to Caroline during the christmas holidays, I decided that I had to get my hands on the Wild Rose hand cream from The Body Shop. I have been keeping this on my bedside table and have been using this every night before bed. Not only does it smell delicious but it really keeps my hands feeling silky soft. It's also a fairly thin formula meaning it sinks in very quickly, but is still very moisturising.

I was intending on getting the cream on its own, but I bought it just after Christmas so got this whole set for £8 whereas the cream on its own normally retails for £10.

The Year of the Snake

Hey guys,

So today I wanted to show you this gorgeous little eyeshadow that my Mum got me for Chinese New Year. If you didn't already know, I lived in Hong Kong for 10 years so I have always celebrated CNY with my family and friends.  Recently, MAC brought out the 'Year of the Snake' collection, which includes some lovely little products with a snake pattern embellished onto them. My mother picked out a lovely colour called 'Once upon a time'. It's a gorgeous sandy-taupe colour which is perfect for all over the lid paired with eyeliner and mascara - simple! 

This gorgeous eyeshadow retails for £16.50 and is available from MAC counters/stores or online.

What I've Been Wearing #2

Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer:
I've had this for a while now, and although I don't get as much use out of it here as I do in Hong Kong, I have been using it over the winter period to add an extra level of moisture to my horribly dry and dehydrated skin. 

MAC eyeliner in Rosemary & Thyme:
This is a really nice, subtle liner that defines your eyes but looks a lot less harsh than a black or dark brown. Plus, the khaki colour looks gorgeous on everyone!

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine:
I received this as a gift from the gorgeous Caroline back in the summer but didn't start using it until around christmas time. It is absolutely gorgeous - I could never quite understand how a lip balm could be so hyped up before owning this, but now I get it!

Rimmel Apocalips in Galaxy:
These 'Apocalips' are amazing. They are so pigmented and smooth - plus the colour range is lovely. I have been favouring 'Galaxy' this month - it's a gorgeous plum colour that really defines the shape of my lips and brightens my complexion.

Benefit They're Real Mascara:
Just like the Korres Lip Butter, I simply could not grasp how amazing this mascara could truly be until I took the plunge and bought it. It is absolutely incredible! Let's just say that I have not even glanced at another mascara since buying this!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation:
After finishing off my Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, I decided to go back to this for a while. The colour suits my skin really well, and it is dewy without looking shiny and doesn't need a powder to set it.

Birchbox: February 2013

Hey guys,
So today I was delighted to find a bright pink box waiting for me when I got back from a day at uni. I was really looking forward to this month's Birchbox as last month's was so good! As you can imagine, I ripped it open as quickly as I could, and let me tell you, I am not disappointed! So, let's take a look at what the box had in store...

1. Vichy 'Eau Thermale'
As far as I can tell, this is one of those skin refreshing mists comparable to the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I personally have never wanted to splash out £20+ for a product that could potentially be nothing more than a face mist. So, I am pretty happy to have received this as I can try it out without having to fork out!

2. Nick Chaves 'Plump 'n Thick'
I am always up for trying out new hair care so I was really excited by this product. As the name suggests, this spray helps to add volume to your hair. I naturally have quite voluminous hair so I am interested to see how this works for me! 

3. Korres 'Guava' Shower Gel
Yay! I have always wanted to try out some Korres products! I am really happy with this as I feel like Birchbox are really delivering their promise of delivering 'luxury' products (at lease someone is, *Glossybox*) I love the scent of this - can't wait to finish the shower gel I'm using so I can give this a go!

4. Gerda Spillmann Cream-to-Powder Makeup in '01 Praline'
I'm not going to lie, this is very dangerous Birchbox! It's hard enough to find a foundation that matches in a store with testers. I was sent shade 01 which at least suggests that Birchbox have read my beauty profile, but it's slightly still too dark, but should work during summer. 

5. Birchbox Eyelash Curlers.
I am SO glad that these were included in the box this month. I have had my MAC ones for about 5 years now and they're not quite what they used to be, yet I've never got round to replacing them. 

6. EBOOST
This is always useful for this time of year, as everyone I know (including myself, unfortunately  have re-freshers flu or some other nasty bug. This provides a nice boost of vitamin C to combat nasty colds or to pick you up after a night out. I'm interested to try this out.

Like I mentioned, I am really impressed with this month's box. The foundation was a very risky move, and, from what I've seen, it hasn't worked out. Also, Birchbox seems to be very inconsistent with when their boxes are delivered. By this, I mean that I have seen some people receive their boxes up to 5 days before me. However, this is only their second month in the UK, so I'll allow them some time to sort that out.

What's been going on?

Hey guys,

So I didn't feel like writing up a review or anything today but still wanted to post so I think I'm just going to ramble in your direction and see what happens. I apologize for the lack or both posts and videos but I am really struggling to have enough time in the day, and when I do, all I want to do is sleep. Classes started again last Wednesday so the work has been piling up. This semester already seems SO much harder than last semester. Let me give you an example - every week I build up a 'to do list' for assignments in my diary, and last semester there was about 5 on average to be completed. I was looking at my diary yesterday (wednesday) and I'm already on ten. I may add that these aren't just little bits that you can check off quickly, they are translations into Russian and obscure spanish grammer tasks about 'diphthongs' and shit. 

In addition to all of this super fun work, the evil timetabling gods have decided that I now need to get up at 7.30am 4 days a week - now that's just mean! Luckily my days are fairly short (no more 9am-6pm), but the early starts and massive work load have already managed to overwhelm me! Also, as some of you may know, I'm moving to Russia in September for the first part of my year abroad so I'm freaking out about that a bit (and how incompetent the entire Russian department seem to be at organising it!) Oh well, such is life.

I've also been getting into the gym a lot more and have been going about 3 times a week. I know this may not sound like a lot to some of you, but when all you want to do is sleep - it's amazing that I've been going at all! I am still pretty motivated though as I am really starting to see the difference. Since joining the gym in September of last year, I've lost about 15kg and a whole dress size (keep in mind that I completely ignored any attempt to diet and did no form of physical exercise over the christmas period), so I'm pretty proud of that. The only problem is that it's just another thing to do - hence the lack of posts and videos. 

Don't get me wrong - I don't mean to complain, I just want to let you guys know what is going on, and why it's been affecting my content. I hope you guys can bear with me until things start to settle down and I beat this fatigue that's been hanging over me.

Glossybox February 2013: Valentines Edition!

Hey guys,

So today I received the February Glossybox - the delightful Valentines Edition! The products came in a limited edition box, a shiny baby pink box with a cute pink bow on it! I was really excited to see what would be inside this box as last years February box was one of my favourites.  So, without further ado, let's take a peek!




Products included:

Anatomicals Body Cleanser:
This smells nice enough, but to be honest I'm a bit sick of receiving Anatomical products. They're nice enough, but to be honest, are ridiculously cheap and really don't belong in a box that claims to provide 'high-end products'. This product is worth £2.50 - would you call that high-end?

Helen E Moisturising Lipstick in 'Cafe au Lait';
I have never heard of this brand before, which is interesting. This is a full size product, worth £8. This is all very good but the colour is not great. It's a dark nude/brown that does not go with my complexion at all. Oh well - what can you do?

Model Co Eyeshadow Duo in 'Bronzed Godess'
This is actually really nice, so I'm glad I received it. The lighter colour is a bit chunky but had nice colour payoff, and the darker shade is a gorgeous deep chocolate colour that blends out nicely. This is worth £12 which is pretty much the same price of the entire box, so that's nice!

Dr. Renaud Raspberry Face Cream:
This tube is worth an astonishing £15! It smells lovely and I am really excited to try it out. I don't really have much more to say about this apart from the fact that it looks and smells lovely!

Micabella Cosmetics Mineral Blush in 'Terracotta':
Hrmm, I am not entirely sure how I feel about this product. It is a nice enough colour, yet I'm not sure how well it will suit my skin. I can also take or leave mineral products. The main annoying thing about this blush is the size - how am I supposed to get a brush in there?!

+ a lollypop!

Overall, I am fairly happy with this box, apart from the few complaints. However, after looking at a few varients of this month's box on other blogs, it looks like I've been quite lucky. There was a perfume sample floating around (which has already been in a box), a few MeMeMe products (which are hardly high-end) and a lip balm (which I received in the February box last year!) I think that Glossybox needs to up their game as their 'high-end' image is rapidly disappearing. Saying that, I am fairly happy with this months box and look forward to the next one.

Stackers.

Hey guys,
So as you probably have gathered, a have rather a stupid amount of jewellery hanging around the place, but recently I have set myself the mission of organising it all. I have found a method of storing the majority of it, but I was having trouble storing some of my more valuable pieces. I don't mind hanging my necklaces from topshop up, or keeping a ring from regal rose in a ring bowl, but for those more precious pieces, I wanted to find a more secure home. Enter, Stackers...

Now funnily enough I actually found these babies whilst browsing my local Waitrose. The one in Bath has recently been revamped and has introduced home ware and some lovely looking beauty bits (Korres is calling me!) Anyway, I was walking along, minding my own business, when I saw these! Perfect! What they are are stackable jewellery draws that, when combined, turn into a lovely little jewellery box. As you can see, I got 3 different kinds of sections, but you could alternatively buy them individually or in a different combination - according to your jewellery needs!




I believe that each section was £9 in Waitrose, and you can also found them all over the internet, including on amazon and here. I think these are brilliant as you can mix and match to your hearts content! The only thing that I would say is that they could be improved by a snapper at the side meaning that the whole box could actually be clicked together, rather than simply lifted apart.
