Birchbox: April 2013
Saturday, April 20, 2013
If you haven't already seen my latest glossybox post then you won't know that I actually prefer Glossybox's offering this month, which hasn't happened for a while. The contents of this box were pretty underwhelming for me and I am not particularly excited to try any of the products. Anyway, I'll let you know what I got!
I am fairly interested in trying this out. I have never actually heard of this brand but I will be sure to give it a go - hopefully I'll like it!
This is one of the things that excited me the most in the box. I have heard some pretty good things about this on the blogasphere. It's supposed to be a really rich and moisturising cream, and on my dry skin, this should work well.
Meh, I'm really not too excited about this. Might actually give it to my mum!
This looks quite nice, but I'm not that much of a lip product girl. It should be quite nice for spring though!
This soap smells delicious but I'm not always a fan of solid soap - they are so slippery! Maybe that's just me ;)
BIRCHBOX MIRROR:
Not a whole lot to say about this, apart from that fact that it's always useful to have a mirror around!
What I've Been Wearing #6

I bought this the other week and have not stopped using it. It is the perfect palette for creating a contoured eye look, or for basic neutral looks. I have already done a review on it here so you ca go and check that out to find out more about it!
This is probably one of my all time favourite MAC brushes. It is a duo fibre, tapered eye brush which makes applying and blending a colour into the crease an effortless dream. What more could you want?
Although I have really dry skin, I find that I still like to powder my skin. I bought this when then discontinued the Dream Matte powder (which I have since found on ebay!) This isn't quite the same but I do like it. It's a bit higher coverage which is good for my *still* teenage skin, yet it does not seem to highlight any flakiness, which is a big bonus!
I received this in a recent beauty box and finally decided to try it out. It is very thick and moisturising so I have been using it before I go to bed mainly but still find that I can use it in the day. It has really helped to clear up the dryness that I have been experiencing the last few weeks. The only thing that is not great about this product is the smell. It is advertised as a raspberry scent, which it is, but think more of yucky medicine that they have tried to make smell and taste like raspberry rather than a nice fruity scent. It's honestly not that bad, certainly not enough to put me off using it, but it's not my favourite scent!

Now before I talk about the products in this box, I have to say, WELL DONE GLOSSYBOX! YOU HAVE FINALLY PULLED OUT AN AMAZING BOX! Each month I compare the month's glossybox and birchbox, and let me tell you, Glossybox won this month! Ok, now onto the products!!
A full size Essie polish?! Score! I got a lovely baby pink colour with a blue duochrome running through it. I actually need to paint my nails tonight so I think this might just be the colour to use!
Essie and Illamasqua!?! How amazing is that!? I received an eye pencil from Illamasqua, which is exciting because I've never tried any of their eyeliners. I was hoping to receive a usable colour like brown, black or grey, but Debonair is actually a bright sky blue. Now I think about it, I have far too many 'normal' coloured eyeliner so, although I won't use this that much, it's actually really useful to have. I'm sure I'll be able to use it during the summer to provide a pop of colour to an eye look.
One can never have enough body creams! I've just finished my last garnier moisturiser, so this is really perfect timing. I'm not usually a fan of pistachio scents, but after smelling this, I can say that it;s not too offensive! I think it actually smells a bit like macaroons! I haven't actually tried this yet but if I do like it then I'm sure you'll see it in a future 'favourites' post.
I'm not usually a fan of receiving perfume samples in these beauty boxes, but I can forgive glossybox for 2 reasons. 1) It smells amazing! And 2) it's actually a fairly decent size. One for the hand bag I think!
I am always excited to receive a hand cream because I use them all the time. This has a very fresh, floral smell, but by that I mean freshly cut flowers rather than an artificial scent. The texture of this is very think so perfect from my dry hands. It also sinks in very quickly and doesn't feel at all greasy. This hand cream actually doesn't launch until May so it's pretty cool that we get to try it out first.
So, as you can probably tell, I am really impressed with this month's offering. However, there were a lot of different product combinations, and although I was lucky, some people seemed to get some boxes that I would have been disappointed to receive. I really think that Glossybox needs to try to make boxes more equal, as I know I've lost out to some better boxes in the past.

As many of you know I am moving to Russia in September so I popped into North Face in Carnaby Street in the hopes of snagging a few bits up at the end of the sale. After trying about 10 coats on, I finally found the perfect one - fur hood, well insulated, water proof and long enough to cover my bum! However, I've saved the best part of it for last - it was 50% off! If you have ever been into a North Face store then you will know how expensive things can be. I think I ended up paying about £150 for it, which really isn't bad for a proper winter coat. I also bought 2 of their famous fleeces to help with layering - they are so snuggly!
The next stop on my little trip around London was Miss Selfridge on Oxford Street. I usually don't
find anything that tickles my fancy in Miss Selfridge, but it happened to be my lucky day! I managed to find 2 gorgeous dresses for when summer ever decides to arrive in the UK. The first is a gorgeous black and white maxi dress. It is a jersey material so it is insanely comfy. It has an elasticated waist and also a slit up one of the sides that reaches mid-thigh. I can't wait to get the chance to wear this, although i get the feeling that I won't have a chance until I'm back in Hong Kong! The second of the two is probably my favourite. It doesn't look like much on the hanger, but it looks amazing on! It has a cut out shoulder detail and is elasticated below the bust. My hair was very wavy that day so this dress looked very bohemian and carefree. As you can imagine, that went straight in my basket!
Well that is it for my mini haul. Have you guys bought anything interesting lately? Let me know in the comment section below :) xx

When I popped onto the Debenhams website the other week and saw a 20% sale on all beauty items, I simply couldn't resist. I've heard nothing but good things about this palette, and when it was on sale for just £18, I finally caved and popped it into my basket. I actually ordered it about a week and a half ago in the hope that it would arrive before I had to go back to uni. That would be just far too easy though, wouldn't it? As soon as my mum dropped me off at the train station, my little sister sent me a text saying a package had arrived for me! Luckily, I had to come back home this weekend for a family wedding, so I didn't have to wait too long to get my hands on this bad boy. The packaging is actually a bit different than I thought it would be. The palette is actually rubberised - like Nars products, and is a bit smaller than I was expecting, However, this is not a bad thing, it makes it perfect for travelling or touching up on the go! Just like all of the other UD eyeshadows that I have tried, these are incredibly smooth and buttery, which makes them a dream to apply and blend. I am excited to play around with this a bit more, and I'm sure that you'll be seeing a lot more of this on this blog!
What I've been wearing #5
Sunday, April 7, 2013
This has been a skincare favourite for the last few weeks or so. I actually got it in my last Birchbox. This is basically a rose scented solid oil that you work into you face as it melts. Then, with wet hands you further massage it over your face and then rinse. As it's an oil it breaks down all of the makeup on your face, providing a thorough cleanse. I have been loving to use this, it's so easy and very effective, plus I love rose!
This is something I've had for a while. It is basically a toner spritz that you simply have to spray on your face - simple! It also smells like rose... mmm! It feels and smells very refreshing, especially in warmer weather. I actually took this to Morocco with me and used it all the time to refresh my face.
This is also something that I've had for a while. It is a very warm, bronze-y shade, but it more red/pink toned rather than orange. It is gorgeous on tanned skin and with blue eyes, although I honestly think it makes any eye colour pop. Plus, for £1, it's a bargain!
My skin has not been happy recently, and I have absolutely no idea why. Anyway, this has been a savour. This is a very hight coverage foundation that is designed to cover scars. I have not been using it all over my face, but as a concealer, or occasionally mixed in with a lighter foundation. It just adds that extra bit of coverage. It's a little pricey (£15.50), but honestly you only use a tiny bit so it lasts ages.

COSMOPOLITAN & MARIE CLAIRE APRIL 2013
Just a heads up for all of you out there! I'm sure that you already know this but I thought I'd do a quick post on it anyway! Marie Claire is giving away Ciaté nail polishes!! I love Ciaté! There were two choices, a gold and a terracotta colour. I already have a few gold polishes so I decided to try out the terracota colour called.. well I have no idea because when I tried to get it out of the box to check it decided to break in half and go all over my hands and laptop!!! Grr. Any way, Marie Claire also came with a sample of Jergens Ultra Healing Body Lotion. Then we have this month's issue of Cosmo, which came with an Argan Oil Hair Transforming Cream. Lovely Jubbly. I'll be trying that one out tonight. Now, whether to go an buy another marie claire...?
Morocco: Day #5
Tuesday, April 2, 2013
Today was fairly uneventful. We had a bit more of a lie in, and then headed to the pool. Hours passed by reading my book, taking a dip in the pool and maybe enjoying a sneaky nap! The sun was amazingly hot, which made a nice change to the teeth-chattering cold back home. We all enjoyed our last day in the sun and before long it was cocktail time! Then we enjoyed a final Moroccan feast before heading to bed. I will be heading back to the airport on Tuesday evening so this is my last Moroccan post. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I've been up to for the last few days. Now, back to the blistering cold of England!!
Morocco: Day #4
Monday, April 1, 2013
Day 4 was amazing. We left the hotel at about 9am and set out on an hours trip to the foot-hills of the High Atlas Mountains. When you think of Morocco, you don't necessarily think of snow-capped mountains, at least I didn't. After an hour of driving we reached our destination, the bottom of a steep path heading up one of the smaller hills. We trekked upwards for about 30 minutes before arriving at a little house, where we met a local family. They then lead us further upwards to a shelter with an amazing view of the terracotta-coloured mountains. There, we were treated to sage and geranium tea, along with a picnic lunch. It was incredible, we even found a wild tortoise and named him Magnus :) . After relaxing for a couple of hours, we headed back down the mountain side and hopped into the car before heading back to Marrakech. I was pretty tired after getting back to the hotel so I might have taken a sneaky nap!! Then, at about 6pm, we all met up again for cocktails and canapés before dinner - yum! I finished off the night with a mojito and then shuffled off to bed - bliss! Until tomorrow...
P.S. tomorrow's post might be a bit late as I'm flying back to London!
