Double Take: Vampy Nails

As soon as the first golden leaf of the year touches the frost-bitten ground I'm ready to apply my favourite autumn nail shade - burgundy. Most of my favourite polishes of all time have been LE OPI polishes that all belong to the same colour family, colours like the British passport or cool, sweet sangría from my beloved Spain. As mentioned, I've gone through countless limited edition bottles and the same number of heartbreaks when they've inevitably dried up or ran out. Therefore, about 2 years ago I decided to begin the hunt for a colour that was part of a permanent collection so that I wouldn't have to go through the same thing once the bottle was old and gloopy. In my search, I've come across some lovely variations of my beloved autumn shade (as well as a pretty damn good dupe) that I've decided to share with you today to help other poor, polish-less souls out in their journey for the perfect burgundy.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in Desire (£4.49)

A darker take on the classic with a semi-metallic finish.

Seche Bella (£7.95)

A true metallic wine coloured shade to make the heart swoon.

Ciaté Dangerous Affair (£9)

A lighter variation but equally as classy.

OPI Mrs O'Leary's BBQ (similar here)

The original LE shade from OPI that has since bitten the dust.

Essie Bahama Mama (£7.99)

The ultimate dupe for OPI Boris and Natasha, as well as the above Mrs O'Leary's BBQ.

Double Take #3: Mint Green Polishes

Hey guys,

So we have all seen this amazing mint coloured nail polish splashed across S/S fashion for the last couple of years. It is a cult favourite, not only for its clean, fresh look, but also for it's fun, flirty, feminine feel (try saying that 10 times fast!!)

A particularly popular shade has always been Essie's Mint Candy Apple. However, when I was living in HK, this wasn't widely available to me so I ended up buying one of my all-time favourite polishes - GOSH's Miss Minty (you can see me rave about it here!) Well I've got some good news for those of you that cannot access one of these brands... they are practically identical!

For those of you in the UK, Essie nail polishes retail for £7.99 and Boots/Superdrug and GOSH nail polishes retail for £5.00 in Superdrug. So the GOSH polish is cheaper, yet the Essie polish seems to be easier to come by. Honestly, they are identical so it's up to you, but they are both stunning and definitely worth checking out :)

Hey guys!

Sorry for the lack of posts and videos but I've had loads of exams and essays but good news, I am now free for the summer! Yay! Hopefully I'll make up all of the missing posts to you ;)

I know many of you enjoyed my previous #doubletake post so here's another :)

I know how annoying it can be when you spot a shade you love but you just can't get your hands on it because its either limited edition, too pricey or not available where you live. I've rustled through all of my taupe-y shadows to see if I can help some of you out!

Flip* was a limited edition e/s that MAC released a few years ago. I only include this as many of you may have this already and may want to compare it to other golds on the market!

Amber Lights is a gorgeous bronze-gold with a super metallic finish. This is one of MAC's best eyeshadows in my opinion as the pigmentation and texture of this is to die for! This has a mid price point (£12 in the pot/£10 in pan form) and is probably the easiest to get hold of.

Casino is a colour that is very similar to Amber Lights, yet I can hardly ever find it in stores. The only difference between this and AL is that this has a chunkier texture (typical of a lustre finish) an perhaps leans more gold whereas AL is more bronze. This has a mid price point (£12 in the pot/£10 in pan form).

I received Dusty Road as part of a recent glossybox and have been enjoying it ever since. It's a loose powder, so it can be a bit messy, but it is a really gorgeous colour and is vegan! This is a sample of 1g (enough product for me!), but a full sized shadow is 2g and costs £7 and can be bought here.

T-B: Casino, Amber Lights, Flip*, Dusty Road

Rubenesque was one of the very first items I purchased from MAC. It's a gorgeous peachy-rose gold which lasts all day. Mine's dried out a bit and has a chunkier consistency, however I did purchase this over 2 years ago. These are slightly pricey at £14.50 but they do last FOREVER!

The 24hr creas shadows from maybelline have been the talk of the town for a while now and the reason why is very simple - they're amazing! I wouldn't go as far as to say 24hrs but they do last nicely. This particular shade is in Eternal Gold and retail for the bargain price of £3.99!

This golden cream eyeshadow from Collection 2000 is a gorgeous goldy-bronze that lasts pretty well, although I would recommend using a primer underneath. Only available in the UK though I'm afraid!

Bronx is a gorgeous bronze-gold with a buttery texture. This is a bit pricier than other options out there, but the quality really does reflect the price. Also, this is available world wide and is a permanent shade from illamasqua :)

I've done a review on this here so I won't get into too much detail right now, but this palette is great, and for only £4!

double take #1: TAUPES

So first is the gorgeous ILLUSOIRE illusion d'ombre e/s from Chanel. This is quite a pricey option (£22.50), however well worth the money and widely available.

Next is one of my all-time favourites, NARS Ashes to Ashes. Gorgeous colour, gorgeous texture but again quite pricey (£17). This is also widely available.

This was a limited edition paint pot from MAC. I only include this as many of you may have this already and may want to compare it to other taupes on the market!

Ah, good old Satin Taupe, one of MACs cult colours. This has been a favourite of mine for a long time. This has a mid price point (£12 in the pot/£10 in pan form) and is probably the easiest to get hold of.

Aubersheen is a colour in a quad from the UK brand 'Soap & Glory'. The whole quad retails for the reasonable price of £10. Unfortunately for those located outside of the UK, this might be trickier to get your hands on!

Much like Soap & Glory, MUA is a UK brand. This stunning shadow retails for the incredible price of just £1! Defiantly a bargain but again trickier to get hold of outside the UK.

Last but not least is the MAC e/s in Hypnotizing. Unfortunately, this was limited edition, although it has already been re-promoted twice. I'm sure if you have access to a CCO you can probably find it somewhere, or alternatively wait until it is re-released.

So, that is all the taupe-y shades I own. Below I have included swatches so you can compare them for yourselves. Who knows, you might even save yourself some money by realising that one you already own is pretty identical to the one you've been lusting over!
