Hair can be a fickle creature, somedays it's working an afro-frizz, other days it's limp as a soggy biscuit that's been dipped in the tea for too long, and sometimes it's a super fun mixture of both that can make you want to pull it all out and simply give up. Mine is usually the delightfully inconvenient third option, which means I need to find products that not only fix each problem, but also balance each other out to make me look like a presentable human being again. Enter the Bumble and Bumble duo that works in perfect harmony to leave me with frizz free, yet voluminous locks.

I've never really tried many Bumble and Bumble product - mainly due to their steep price tag - but the two that I've tried so far haven't disappointed. So, how does this hair-saving duo work you may ask? Well, let's see - to start things off, I take a quick squeeze of Bumble and Bumble's BB Defrizz to calm things down a bit. You can use this on damp hair to define curls and control frizz, of like I usually do, use it on dry hair to add a gorgeous shine and tame those nasty flyaways. It also leaves your hair feeling silky smooth for days after use. However, if you're used to having frizzy hair (which I presume you are if you are using this) then you might find that things get a bit... flat. It by no means makes your hair limp, but when you're used to volume, you can feel a bit deflated. So, this is where the second part of the routine comes in, the re-volumising.

Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder must be some kind of witchcraft, because boy is it good. A dry shampoo, style extender and volumiser all in one? How is that ever possible? Like I said, witchcraft. Either way, this stuff is incredible and will turn any limp mop into fashionista's locks in the blink of an eye. This puts the life back into my hair, releasing a tiny bit of the animal that the Defrizz is working desperately to contain - but just the right amount to give you back that volume. And ta-dah! The perfect balance has been achieved. For the first few times, you'll probably have to experiment how much of each product you need to use, but the beauty of this pairing is that you can just add a sprinkle of this and a squeeze of that until you've found your perfect combination.

Bumble and Bumble BB Defrizz retails for £12.50 for 50ml / £22.00 for 125ml, and Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder will set you back £21.50 for 56g and they are available at most larger Boots stores or online. This may sound extortionate (trust me, that's what I thought) but I've hardly made a dent in either product, and I've had both for a considerate amount of time. If you're still hesitant, look out for magazines as minis have popped up a few times as freebies, or visit your nearest B&B counter and check out their travel section. They don't have miniature sizes of every product, but it might be worth checking out if you have a particular product in mind.

Have you tried any of Bumble and Bumble's products? What did you think of them?
