99% of people seem to be obsessed with the most recent release from the cult brand Benefit; it appears to be the latest innovation in the beauty world, and has been doing the rounds in the beauty community over the last few months or so since its release. Me? I'm not quite convinced. Don't get me wrong, the idea is a good one, but I just don't find it all that easy to use. I think that because I'm so used to doing it the old fashioned way for so long, I just cannot get to grips with it. I find the application slightly awkward, the tip prone to dragging and the formula hard to work with. I'm sure that with a lot of practise, this would become a useful product, but I simply can't be bothered to put the time or money into perfecting it when I can already achieve the same look with a conventional gel liner and brush.

Where it does stand out is its longevity and colour. I'll give it to Benefit, when this stuff dries it stays put for hours, only fading slightly rather than flaking or smudging when it finally lets up - which is after about 7 hours of wear. It is also intensely black in colour which is another positive aspect of the new gel eyeliner on the block. Finally, judging by other people's reactions, I imagine that it is great for those new to gel eyeliner - but for veterans like me it is simply too much work to accommodate.

What do you think about Benefit's latest release? Has it worked out for you?

  1. The minute I saw this I was like uh oh. Benefit's up to it's gimmicky tricks again. Not for me this one. Not at all. Also jeezus the price! Insanity!

  2. I feel like it looks so hard to use, despite everyones claims! I think I'm fine with liquid for now anyway x

  3. I thought I was the only one that just didn't get on with it.. I hate how the product breaks off from the liner, and then you can't use it... So glad I just got a deluxe sample from Sephora and didn't really need to buy it because I would have been upset I had spent that money for nothing.. xx

  4. I am NOT convinced either & dissappointed when I saw so many positive reviews as I find it so hard to use, it's nice to see some honesty xxx

  5. I find it hard work to use as well - it's a shame, because it's a nice idea! I've found it so odd reading all these rave reviews when I've been hugely underwhelmed by the product, but it just shows that what works for one person won't work for everyone! x

  8. I haven't tried this yet, but I know Maybelline came out with a similar product in Asia a while ago and it seems like both have the same problems. =/ I'm more of a pen and gel fan for eyeliner. :)

  9. I totally agree with you, it's a great liner and the colour and lasting is great but I found it a bit of a pickle to get used to putting on. Personally I think when I'm done with mine I'm going to go back to the traditional liquid liner! £18.50 on a liner I don't love just isn't for me! xx

  10. I find it really fiddly as well - plus it's quite wasteful because the tip either produces too much or not enough product! x

  17. Thanks for following Sheri - I really appreciate it! What can I say, it just doesn't suit my tastes - I'm glad it has worked for some many people, just sad I had to spend a fortune to find out that I wasn't one of those lucky people!! x
