I think I've spoken about this before, but when my academic life gets really busy, all of the small things that I like to do get pushed out of the way. A prime example of this is my nails - a true sign that I'm swamped at uni is when I go without nail polish on my nails for months on end. It's a shame because I actually really enjoy spending 30 minutes a week or so taking care of my nails and having fun with new colours and combinations, so this past weekend I decided that enough was enough. I work hard and I deserve to enjoy the little things in life, so I delved deep into my nail draw and pulled out one of the gorgeous minis that I received for Christmas (still unopened!!) and treated myself to a relaxing home DIY manicure.

When it came to choosing my 'come-back' shade, I decided to go for something subtle and spring-like to lighten my mood, and also a shade that I knew wouldn't chip quickly. Enter OPI's 'Tickle My France-y' - a delightfully ordinary colour that makes my nails feel extraordinary. The subtle pink/nude/mauve tone of it makes your nails look very sophisticated and chic, but the pink tone is bright enough to add a playful spring-appropriate feeling to your mitts. For some reason it reminds me of a shade that would fit perfectly into the colour palette of your grandmother's home, but funnily enough I like that about it. Don't ask me why - I guess it just feels comfortable and safe whilst still making your nails look pretty and fashion-forward.

So here's the colour I chose to accompany me back into the realm of neatly manicured nails, and I am extremely happy with my choice. Reading this back I feel slightly ridiculous because it sounds like I'm stuck with this colour for the rest of my life, but I guess I can be a tad dramatic when it comes to nail polishes! Five days in 'Tickle My France-y' is still holding up valiantly with my usual polish-sandwich of OPI's Nail Envy as a base coat and good ol' Seche Vite as a top coat, so it would seem that it was a wide choice indeed. I wonder what shade I'll go for next week? I guess we'll just have to see... ;)

What are your favourite fall-back polishes? Do you forget about your nails when life is busier than normal? Let me know in the comments!

  1. OMG I am absolutely the same, if I am busy with work or Uni you can always tell from my nails and that's not a good thing, currently rocking some really chipped bright pink nail polish and different length nails, YIKES. I love OPI though you can't go wrong as it lasts pretty well and is a lovely colour too, I like a nude/light pink xxx

  4. I totally forget about my nails when I'm busy or stressed! My problem is I can't stand chipped nails, so if I know I'll be stressed because of the chipping and not being able to repaint/fix them... I'll just not paint them, lol.

Love your choice for a come-back! I don't have an specific shade for that to be honest, I just dive through all my collection and pick up whatever I feel like!

  5. Oh no! I hate chipped nails so that's why they don't have anything on them for so long - I just can't be bothered! x

  7. I am exactly the same - I'd rather have them bare if I know that I won't have the time/energy to maintain them! x
