July & August Glossybox UK Review!
Hey guys,
So I landed in the UK yesterday morning and was excited to see both my July and August Glossyboxes waiting for me! I haven't had much of a chance to try any of the products yet but I'll let you guys know what my initial impressions are. The July box was a festival themed box, and the August box was called 'International Superstars' and featured products from around the world. Hopefully next month this post will be on time! Hope you enjoy!

JULY: THE FESTIVAL BOX:
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil – Excited to see this in here, I love trying out new skin/hair oils.
Jelly Pong Pong Irish Cream Pavlova Lip Frosting – I've never tried anything from this brand before, but this product looks interesting!
Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist – I love the generous size of this sample - 100ml! I haven't tried this out yet but I love getting new hair products to try out.
Monu Eye Gel – I've never rea;;y tired any eye cream/gell products before so I'm excited to give this one a go. It claims to soothe tired looking eyes so that's a win!
Bex W1X London Urban EDT – I hate receiving fragrance samples - this one doesn't even smell ver nice.
What I Think – I REALLY WANTED THE HD BROW KIT! I'm really annoyed because glossybox has sent out at least HD Brow products in the past and I haven't received a single one of them. that aside, I hate that I got another perfume sample, but the extra Elizabeth Arden samples were nice and I am happy with everything else in the box.
AUGUST: THE 'INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTARS' BOX:
Alessandro Pro White Nail Polish (Germany) – I'm looking forward to trying this - my nails are never as white as I'd like them to be, so I'm glad I received this!
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil (Japan) – This is the product that I am definitely most excited about. I am all about finding new cleansing products - I just hope I don't like it too much because it's all the way from Japan!
All for Eve Eve’s Balm – This isn't really that exciting for me. It's a plain, multipurpose balm. Useful enough, but not very exciting!
Vera Valenti L’ombre a Paupiere Maragrita (Spain) – This product is just appalling - the texture, the colours, the packaging and the pigmentation, all horrible! I don't know how Glossybox thought they could get away with putting a palette I wouldn't have even bought when I was 6 in a 'luxury' beauty box. The only good thing about this is that everyone got a palette - I would have been really peeved if others had received a better product in place of this.
Lipcote (UK) - I'm looking forward to trying this as the concept seems interesting - however, it smells horribly chemical-y.
Glossy Box Lipstick in Glossy Pink – This shade is pretty, the texture is nice but the packaging is a little cheap feeling.
What I think – I am happy with 4/6 products so all in all this was not a bad box, however the eyeshadow palette is an absolute joke so I am a bit peeved at Glossybox for this!
Until next month!
Until next month!
Quick Reviews #2:
Monday, August 27, 2012
Hey guys,
Today is my last day in HK so I'm just chilling, doing some last minute packing and finishing up a few posts. The last quick review post I did was received well and I've decided that I'm going to do quick reviews a lot more and save individual reviews for more popular/hyped products.
Any way, today I'm going to be reviewing;
Barry M Bold Black Waterproof Eyeliner, Bourjois Intense Pot Eyeshadows and Lancôme Hypnôse Precios Cells Mascara.
BARRY M BOLD BLACK WATERPROOF EYELINER:
When I went shopping for my £20 makeup challenge, I picked up this Barry M eyeliner, not really expecting much from it at all - especially for the price of £3.99. However, this is one of my new favourite eyeliners. It's super creamy, very black and has amazing staying power. However it can smudge a bit throughout the day (which is great for smoking it out), but if you want it to stay put then you might want to set it with a black eyeshadow. I love to use this in the water line. Great find (this is why I love tags!!)
4/5
BOURJOIS INTENSE POT EYESHADOWS IN 05 AND 05:
I had never really tried any of the Bourjois pot eyeshadows until a few months ago when I spotted the Intense line. Two particular shades that caught my eye were shades 05 (a emerald green) and 08 (a rusty brown). The pigmentation and staying power of these are great and there is minimal fallout. The also have really nice, slim yet sturdy packaging with a mirror. I am definitely planning on buying more colours in the near future.
5/5
LANCÔME HYPNÔSE PRECIOUS CELLS MASCARA:
You'll have to bear with me on this one - I am absolutely horrific when it comes to reviewing mascaras. The formula was just right for me - not too wet but certainly not dry. I liked the wand as it reached most of the lashes with ease and gave them both volume and length. However - this isn't my favourite mascara, I don't think I would buy it again, but to be fair I've only ever repurchased 2 mascaras.
4/5
Until next time!

a blonde girl's ombré
Hey guys,
In case you didn't see my most recent video (featured at the bottom of this post), I went to go and get my hair done yesterday. I've always wanted ombré-d hair, but being a natural blonde it's almost impossible to get an ombré affect. Any way, my good friend and hairdresser decided she would try to help me achieve a transition look in my hair. As I am blonde - it's very subtle but I'm really happy with it! See the pictures below :)
The hairdressers I go to -
The Strand, Cochrane Street, Hong Kong

To achieve a more natural ombré affect, they backcombed my hair and applied the dye like that. I've never heard of this method before but it worked out really well as it means you don't get a obvious line where your hair changes colour.
Me after washing the dye out (pulling a silly face!) - You can already see the gradient affect!
The final product in the salon :)
In natural light to show the ombré a bit better!
To sum it up - I love my new hair! I haven't been as blonde as the ends of my hair since I was little! If you are in HK definitely check out The Strand - it's my favourite hairdressers of all time! I never thought I would ever be able to ombré my hair without dyeing it darker first so I'm really happy! Let me know what you think :)

Saturday, August 18, 2012Blog Love #2
Why hello!
I suddenly realised that I haven't done one of these for ageeeeess and that I wanted to highlight some of the great blogs that I've been enjoying lately. However, I'm going to leave the better know blogs out and give some love to some of the lesser known ones!
Katie:
I've known Katie for a few years through YT and most recently blogging. She is one of the sweetest people ever and does great makeup based blog posts and videos! I just couldn't do one of these blog love posts without including her.
Georgia:
I've only just come across Georgia's amazing blog, teawithtwosugars, but I'm already a big fan. I absolutely love her fashion sense!
Sophie:
Sophie's blog, sophie said, is another recent discovery. Her blog combined all things I love, fashion, make up, photography and the odd random post.
Lauren:
One of my ultimate favourite beauty blogs. Her content and photos are amazing and I am always left drooling over product and adding them to my 'wish list'.
Hollie:
Again, Hollie's blog is exactly the kind of blog I like. She has fashion, photography and beauty posts. Win!
Hope you enjoyed this post and go and check out these fabulous blogs now! Let me know if there are any blogs that I should check out in the comment section below :)
Quick Reviews #1:
Friday, August 17, 2012
Hey guys,
So I have a terrible habit of getting all excited about a product, photographing the hell out of it and then, well, either forgetting to review it or not being bothered to write up a long review for it. Any way, the other day I spotted the ingenious idea of doing a few quick reviews in a single post on ETC LLYMLRS. This way I can let you guys know what I think and tick off a few reviews as I go!
So, today I'm going to be reviewing;
COLLECTION 2000 LASTING COLOUR GEL EYELINER IN BLACK:
A few months back, I got asked by a lovely follower about my opinion of this product. It's a fairly recent release from Collection 2000, retails for £3.99 , and comes in 3 other shades (teal, brown and gold). It also comes with a little brush, which isn't half bad, and comes in nice, simple packaging. I've worn this a few times and I do like it. However, I don't love it, I much prefer the alternatives from MAC and Bobbi Brown, but if you're on a budget, this is a pretty good alternative (the best drugstore gel eyeliner I've tried) and is a great backup to have around.
4/5
URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION IN SIN:
To be completely honest, there really isn't much to say about this product about how good it is at what it does. Just like the original pp from UD, this primes the eye perfectly and keeps any shadows from creasing or fading. However, I never really got into using the original primer potion because; 1) it was in stupid packaging, and 2) it was practically transparent in colour when applied which I found a bit boring. Thanks to UDs redesign of the packaging, it is now easier than ever to use and the colour Sin is just gorgeous. It retails for £14.50 (which I think is great value as you only need the tiniest bit) and is available in larger Boots or online (House of Frasier, UD.com etc).
5/5
MAYBELLINE POPSICLES:
For me, there is only one word to describe these - meh. As you can see, they are only barely pigmented. To be fair, that is what they're designed to be, so they are nice for a slight tint, but aren't worth running out to get. If you've seen this post, you can see that the Topshop version of these, Crystal is EXACTLY the same as the Maybelline 'Pink Lollipop' shade, but for some reason, I prefer the Topshop version so much more. The Maybelline ones smell horribly artificially/plastic-y sweet and the packaging is a bit hit/miss for me. It just feels very cheap and plastic - like the product itself. However, if you can't get your hands on the Topshop version, and can stand the smell and packaging of these, then they are worth a look. They are available from both Boots and Superdrug for £7.19.
2.5/5
Let me know if you like this style of review or prefer full-length ones!
